Whisky Pudding

Red wine pudding is a traditional italian recipe that is supposed to warm you in the winter, and help healing from the common cold when eaten before sleeping.

The problem is: I don't like the taste of wine, so my mother and I experimented with other alcool source for the recipe, and found that whiskey works well, and this recipe has become an house tradition.

The spice mix depends on the reason for eating the pudding: usually we use either gingerbread mix or cinnamom; adding cocoa is good when tired and needing confort after a long day, and adding extra ginger gives an interesting taste and is good for the common cold.

Recipe

For 2 persons:

  • 2 Tbs sugar
  • 2 Tbs cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon spices and/or 1 tablespoon cocoa
  • 2 glassed milk
  • 30 cl whisky [1]
[1]or about half an espresso coffee cup.

Mix the sugar, cornstarch and spices in a saucepan; add the milk and mix until smooth. Put it on a stovetop at low heat, add the whisky and continue mixing with a whip until cooked, i.e. when it has tickened to a cream.
